Early measurement of bilirubin levels leading to early intervention is recommended, but the time to collect a blood sample and the trauma to the baby made universal screening difficult. Now the BiliCareTM System offers a cost- and time-effective way to monitor bilirubin levels without unnecessary heel pricks.
The BiliCareTM System measures bilirubin levels using patented technology that provides accurate results. The technology is based on spectroscopy. The system measures the transcutaneous bilirubin level of the newborn by sending light at different wavelengths through the auricle. The amount of light absorbed by bilirubin is calculated using a custom algorithm.

LEDs do not deteriorate over time. No shift in power or ave length means no routine calibration is required. The optional calibration check allows the user to confirm calibration if desired. The calibration verification process is quick and easy and provides immediate results.
