Bariatric Wheelchair Eclipse is crash tested. Read more in the text below.
– Bariatric users weighing up to 270 kg, in hospitals, nursing homes and private homes.
Bariatric Wheelchair Eclipse has a rigid frame that provides maximum strength, stiffness, and durability that will give the user years of use. The adjustment possibilities give the user a chance of staying active in propelling the wheelchair, getting in and out of the wheelchair and maybe also walk the wheelchair.
The frame is designed so most of the user weight is carried on the rear wheels. The wheels are especially made for this wheelchair. They are extra hard and solid making propulsion and steering easy and with very little loss of energy.
The seat pan is solid. Giving a bariatric user a solid seat pan facilitates a good posture and activeness in the chair.
Bariatric Wheelchair Eclipse has adjustable seat depth, seat height, seat to floor angle and seat to back angle. All of this makes it easy to adjust to any body type. The back is constructed so users with a protruding behind can get good support to their lumbar spine. A huge problem rarely met by any other chair.
Front wheels are placed in front of the seat pan to ensure an anterior anti-tip, which is very important taking into consideration that most bariatric users have a lot of weight placed in front of them. The anterior anti-tip makes it possible for the user to get in and out of the wheelchair without the risk of tipping.
Different types of front rigging complete the adjustment possibilities. The chair can be used with different kinds of cushions. Bariatric Wheelchair Eclipse has disc brakes as an additional option.
Bariatric wheelchair Eclipse is crash tested. This means it can be used in Community Transport vehicles or adapted vehicles for transporting wheelchair users without them being removed from the wheelchair itself. The wheelchair will need to be secured to the vehicle by a Transit Tie Down System (accessory).
Safe transport is a key element in a wheelchair user’s ability to access medical facilities as well as to improve quality of life, by being able to enjoy day trips out and holidays.
Wheelchairs that have been manufactured and suitably tested for secure use within a vehicle are marked clearly on the wheelchair with anchor symbols featured on the frame of the wheelchair. The icon is most commonly displayed on the front frame of the wheelchair. Public transport, taxis and ambulance attendants will look out for either the hook symbols (see picture) on the back of the chair, or the crash tested sticker.
